| Nestled on the banks of the Ohio River, Ashland, Kentucky is the largest city in Boyd County. This northeastern Kentucky city offers something for every interest...shopping, cultural attractions, outdoor activities and sporting events.
Originally settled in the late 1700's, Ashland’s location and resources allowed it to grow into a major industrial location. Large corporations, with interests in steel, gas, coal and railroads moved into Ashland, providing the people of Kentucky, West Virginia and southern Ohio with jobs and prosperity.
Located at the northern end of eastern Kentucky’s “Country Music Highway,” Ashland is the home of the dynamic country music duo, The Judds. The mother-daughter team have racked up numerous country music hits and performed around the world, but have not forgotten their Kentucky roots.
Built in 1931, the Paramount Arts Center is a national historic site. Refurbished to preserve it’s historic charm, the Paramount hosts live theater, concerts and other entertainment. The charm of the venue provides a wonderful contrast of the past with modern entertainment.
But, maybe the most attractive part of Ashland is the big city amenities and small town feel. Retaining its charm and character, this river city is a great place to visit or to settle down and call home.
