Wide Open Spaces and Down Home Places
Located in the beautiful mountains of southeastern Kentucky, Jenkins is sometimes referred to as the core of Letcher County. Nestled along the Pine Mountain Trail, you are just a short drive from the breathtaking views atop Black Mountain (the highest point in Kentucky), hiking, camping, fishing and other outdoor activities. Jenkins is home to Raven Rock Golf Course, a regulation 18-hole golf course with great scenery. Jenkins is also just minutes from Breaks Interstate Park. Commonly referred to as “The Grand Canyon Of The South,” Breaks Interstate Park encompasses 4,500 acres of woodland and is one of only two interstate parks in America.
Jenkins residents are proud of their Appalachian heritage and celebrate it each year with Jenkins Homecoming Days held in August. Jenkins’ natives are especially proud of their railroad heritage and showcase it year round at the David A. Zegeer Railroad Museum. The museum lets visitors view authentic trains and cabooses on display and learn the importance railroads have played in the history of Jenkins.
Low cost of living, affordable shopping, friendly people and scenic views make Jenkins a great place to visit or call home.
