All Aboard for History and Natural Beauty
Though it is peaceful now, in 1862 Boyle County was the site of the largest Civil War battle ever fought on Kentucky soil. Once a bustling railroad intersection, Boyle County’s Junction City also holds dear a great number of historic Kentucky memories. First established as Goresburg, the town was originally home to the Louisville & Nashville Railroad as well as the Norfolk Southern Railroad. In later years, Junction City annexed the small neighboring town of Shelby City. Today, the city is mostly residential. This fact is no surprise, however, given Boyle County’s charm and great agricultural beauty.
