Where the Mountains and the Bluegrass Blend
McKee is a true Kentucky treasure. Located in the heart of Jackson County, its hills were first settled by Native Americans. Jackson County is home to the U.S. Forest Service campgrounds of Turkeyfoot and S-Tree. One of the most famous Jackson Countians, David “Stringbean” Akemon (TV’s “Hee-Haw”) has a popular bluegrass festival held twice a year in his memorial. If outdoor fun is what you’re looking for, the region also has plenty of ATV trails in the Daniel Boone Forest area.
