A Place for Families
Wayland, named for West Virginia Senator Clarence Wayland Watson, was established in 1913 The Elk Horn Coal Company used the land to open a new mine and begin the towns growth. Today, Wayland is a thriving small town with much to offer. Visitors to Wayland will find an active Community Center in the downtown area. Also, residents spend much time at the old Wayland gym playing basketball and other sports.
